ZAKK WYLDE: Bringing Metal to the Children book signing at Hollywood Sam Ash

Published on April 12th, 2012

“Father Zakk” scribblin’ away on my book!

Tuesday, April 10th was a busy day!

First, at 3:15 I was slated to interview Cristiano Migliore from LACUNA COIL - and not only did our chat go greatly, but Cristina and Andrea also stopped by before their sound check and answered some questions too.

Right after, I ventured up Sunset Blvd. a ways to LACUNA COIL’s signing at West Hollywood’s Soundcheck Records where I managed to get a LACUNA COIL poster signed by each of the lovely Italian Rockers.

Then, I high-tailed it to Sam Ash for another very special event where Zakk Wylde was signing copies of his new book, Bringing Metal to the Children (2012, HarperCollins)! The guitar icon, who is best known for his work with OZZY and his own band BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, co-wrote the hilarious book with longtime friend Eric Hendrikx. It’s filled with killer pics,  fucked up stories from the road and, in the Viking’s own words, “a buncha other stupid ass bullshit.”

An excerpt from the book which you can read here was released by William Morrow back in March.

The line of hopefuls waiting for Zakk to impart the Norse Gods’ blessing on them was quite long, and a bunch of patch-wearing “Berzerkers” (as BLS loyalists are often known) arrived quite early. I arrived at 6, and the crowd was nearly a block long out the door.

New York fans will be able to attend a signing for the book on May 3rd at the Sam Ash on 156 W 48th Street. Buy the book online at this link!

When I interviewed Zakk Wylde recently for another publication, he had just come back from Australia. BLACK LABEL SOCIETY were Down Under from February 25th through March 5th for Soundwave 2012 Sidewave with HELLYEAH and HOLY GRAIL. But now, BLS are taking a much-needed break before launching a HUGE European tour – this time pillaging Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, Germany, France, etc.

Here‘s a full list of dates.
